A fire broke out and destroyed CTV Ottawas newsroom in a local station called CJOH. CTV said that flames began on the second floor of the Merivale Road building sometime before 4:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported but it took 70 firefighters and 18 fire trucks to get the blaze under control.
The damages are estimated to be more than $2.5 million including archives of Ottawa's local news archives.
It is currently unknown wether local broadcasts will be affected but CTV Says that it will be days before staff can return to work. In the mean time plans are set to continue from the A channel building in the ByWard Market.
The cause of the blaze is not currently known but fire fighters are investigating the cause
